Perspective Drawing

In perspective drawing there are certain terms that you need to know. These include the vanishing point and what a horizontal line and a vertical line is.

A horizontal line is the line that the vanishing point goes on and it is also is a line that goes across rather than up or down.

A vertical line is a line that goes up and down. It is the opposite to a horizontal line.

The vanishing point is the point that every line goes to and if you are doing one or two point perspective the vanishing point is the perspective from where you are looking at it from.

1 point perspective

These photos are all in one point perspective which means most horizontal lines are pointing to the vanishing point which i have labelled that are in the middle. For the first image on the left I have included my initials and have made them 3D in one point perspective and i have shaded the bits facing the vanishing point to add more depth. For the photo on the right i had drawn normal squares and rectangles and I had made the lines that are going towards the vanishing point longer so that it could look like it was going on forever rather than it being really short. I then shaded it in too make it look more professional and i made all the lines really bold so it would stick out.

2 point perspective

For 2 point perspective it is a little bit more tricky as you have to be aware of what lines go to what vanishing point as there are two. For this drawing i originally laid out my horizontal line and placed my vanishing points onto it and then i created my square in a way that it would look the way that it does. I also added a different shad for each side so that it looked like it had shadow

Street view

This is my street view and it is in 2 point perspective where half of the horizontal lines are facing one vanishing point and the other half of the horizontal lines are facing the other vanishing point and of course the vertical lines are all facing up or down.

Reflection

for the picture i feel like i could add some buildings in the foreground and maybe a mountain in the background to add to it as i have made a lot of buildings already. I would also remove my McDonalds logo as it is not facing the right vanishing point which make it look out of place.

On the good side it overall the buildings and everything do look nice and my favourite bit is the pavement as I made all the lines are all in the right way facing the vanishing points.

Halfway review

( i could not find my updated picture of the street view. The one that was in the folder was the exact same as the one we were looking at in class).

To make my picture better i could add maybe a mountain in the background and it would look really far away so that i could fill out the top of the picture or i could add some clouds to make it look better. I could also make it better by going over my lines and pressing down more on the paper because then the lines would be more bold and would look so much better. Most of my perspective lines are towards the vanishing point however some are a bit to the left of the vanishing point but are not noticeable. Overall my street view picture looks better considering my drawing skills are rubbish but my buildings are good and the horizontal lines are going to the right vanishing point.

Final outcome

I know it is the wrong way around but i don’t know how to make it the right way around.

For this image i have had to make a street view in 2 point perspective which i have done pretty well. From my half way evaluation i said that i should add a mountain in the background which i have and i shaded it in a little bit so that i could add some texture. I had also gone over the lines a bit more severely so that you could see it more clearly and i have done that. i have made all of the pavements 3D to add some depth and i have made some buildings that have posters on the side to say big sales and other ones which don’t have anything on them. I also made some buildings that have a checkered pattern to it so it would look more interesting. The last thing i did was make the roads more clear and all the lines overall better in terms of going to the vanishing point.

To make it better i could have made more of those posters have some writing on it so it would look more interesting.

Overall i really like what i have made and it looks really good considering i had little to no drawing experience.
